New, unofficial Strawberry Swing video!
The previously launched Strawberry Swing video.
Personally I love the official one better, though both required a massive amount of work (stop-go motion, anyone? You could clearly see the fingerprints of the maker on the dolls.) .
And it's off to chemistry for now.

A waste? Michael Jackson might have been anything but a waste. A look at his illustrous career will confirm it. He had been almost god-like, garnering a cult following from around the world that lasted well into the last days of his career. No allegations or accusations could even touch the colossal success he had achieved over the decades.
His light will shine on forever.
Please, listen to Politik. :) It's one of those few Coldplay songs that would make my heart ache at the bridge. 'Oh give me love over, love over, love over this.' The beautiful part starts at 2:53.
I had my SWS meeting today, a congregation of the ladies and women. There is a group of girls I know whom are very close to each other, which can be detrimental to any discussion group. Having typical Asian mentalities, their excited chatters vanish once the facilitator begins talking. They keep their silence as though every question asked is a rhetorical one, resulting in long, awkward silences. I find it awfully discouraging and frustrating, particularly when I am proficient in English and being unable to express myself properly in Mandarin (let alone Cantonese). This has happened on one too many occasions, and I get increasingly frustrated. If this was a discussion in English, I would've been able to occupy the silence with something trivial, but being a chinese discussion, I found myself stunned dumb and not even attempting to phrase something in Mandarin.

Crest of waves, troughs below!
Quite frankly, I am sick of looking for this bloody degree.
My eyes are sore, and it's frustrating to see just how little qualifications I have right now. I missed the bloody MUET registration deadline and I do not get to register until January next year, and Ma is against the idea of me working half the year away while I wait for the test in May (okay maybe you argue that MUET can be sat for while you are in university, but I'm too exhausted to check right now). And IELTS is simply too expensive.
Plus, seeing that I bloody hell am not able to afford studying Dentistry locally as I initially intended (forget about overseas) (RM600,000! WTF), I might as well move on to a course I know I will excel in, seeing how I'm pretty used to the idea of teaching/lecturing as a career. Saying goodbye to my science subjects would be painful, but Ma says I can keep them by giving tuition. Ugh ugh ugh.
I hate discussing about the future.
Moving on to cheerier things, our Psych presentation topics are out. Psych and Art! Psych and Musicians! Psych and Movies (ie Archetypes)! Sleep disorders! Anxiety disorders! Dream journals! By-stander Effect!
etc etc.
I am debating over Psych and Musicians (Coldplay and how their lyrics are deeply related to the degree they took in Uni), and Psych and Movies (Lord of the Rings, of course. It's very easy to identify the archetypes in there).
Did you know that the lyrics to Coldplay's Clocks can be intepretated as to imply addiction or death? Or that Violet Hill is about a son whose father has gone to war and he is despairing over the circus surrounding the politics of it?
Sleep. Now I know that afternoon naps are a must.

ISTJ
I have yet to analyse my personality using the Myers-Briggs Test Indicator, which is introduced in our current Psychology chapter, Personality. I suspect I'll come up with Introvert-Intuitive-Thinking-Judging (INTJ).
My report card came in, and it's not good. It shows. I'm lagging in my studies and attention, so much that sometimes I just stare at the lecturer blankly not noticing what she's saying. I hardly concentrate in class anymore, and I leap out of class at every opportunity.
Maybe it's because Sai Mun's coming home in less than two weeks. Or maybe it's because I'm plain lazy.
I have to start to buck up, or I'll perish in the fires of--
*ten minutes later*
Oh.
I'm an ISTJ--introvert (78%), sensing(38%), thinking(38%), and judging (33%)preferences. People with this type of personality are the likes of Queen Victoria, Waren Buffet, JD Rockefeller, Clint Eastwood and Queen Elizabeth II. Here's what is described as an ISTJ--an Inspector.
"The one word that best describes Inspectors is superdependable. Whether at home or at work, Inspectors are extraordinarily persevering and dutiful, particularly when it comes to keeping an eye on the people and products they are responsible for. In their quiet way, Inspectors see to it that rules are followed, laws are respected, and standards are upheld.
Inspectors (as much as ten percent of the general population) are the true guardians of institutions. They are patient with their work and with the procedures within an institution, although not always with the unauthorized behavior of some people in that institution. Responsible to the core, Inspectors like it when people know their duties, follow the guidelines, and operate within the rules. For their part, Inspectors will see to it that goods are examined and schedules are kept, that resources will be up to standards and delivered when and where they are supposed to be. And they would prefer that everyone be this dependable. Inspectors can be hard-nosed about the need for following the rules in the workplace, and do not hesitate to report irregularities to the proper authorities. Because of this they are often misjudged as being hard-hearted, or as having ice in their veins, for people fail to see their good intentions and their vulnerability to criticism. Also, because Inspectors usually make their inspections without much flourish or fanfare, the dedication they bring to their work can go unnoticed and unappreciated.
While not as talkative as Supervisor Guardians [ESTJs], Inspectors are still highly sociable, and are likely to be involved in community service organizations, such as Sunday School, Little League, or Boy and Girl Scouting, that transmit traditional values to the young. Like all Guardians, Inspectors hold dear their family social ceremonies-weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries - although they tend to be shy if the occasion becomes too large or too public.
Generally speaking, Inspectors are not comfortable with anything that gets too fancy. Their words tend to be plain and down-to-earth, not showy or high-flown; their clothes are often simple and conservative rather than of the latest fashion; and their home and work environments are usually neat, orderly, and traditional, rather than trendy or ostentatious. As for personal property, they usually choose standard items over models loaded with features, and they often try to find classics and antiques - Inspectors prefer the old-fashioned to the newfangled every time."
Huh.

I am humbled.
The members were playing this game where they chose which Coldplay songs they like, and, by golly, I've barely heard of half of what they spout out, and I've heard more Coldplay songs than anyone I know.
“Coldplay is for people with great taste, intelligence, incredible good lookingness, talent, ability, success, grabbing of life. Coldplay’s for people who know what life’s about. They’re always entertaining. Delightful to talk to. Sweet, charming, incredibly good in bed. Virile. They have incredible success with girls, or boys, or both. They’re generally just the world’s best citizens. Maybe I’m biased, but I’m definitely right.” -Chris Martin

Viva oh my
She perverted it. She totally perverted it.
All the twangs here and there and the occasional quick ascent up the scales? Typical pop. Not cool. That is why Coldplay is good. Because they do not do typical pop. What sin has she committed??
What's next, Hilary Duff doing Lovers in Japan? Miley Cyrus covering Clocks?
OMG.
On the brighter side of things, there's the cheesy alternate video to VLV. You can't help but love Chris Martin for enduring the crown and cape-looking thing and tucking the Liberty Leading the People under his arm and walking all over the place!
As compared to that, I prefer the original video anytime. It's fascinating to watch Will hammering away at the cowbell and Chris dancing around like a drunkard. It's a lot more interesting than just watching HRM Chris dragging Eugene Delacroix's painting around.
Oh, and DID YOU KNOW that there is another reference to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy other than "42" when it comes to Coldplay songs? HAHAHA. It's another song, in X&Y, called "Don't Panic". HAHAHA.

"Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition."

IN A NUTSHELL
So Friday, Renu and I were feeling mischievous so we pranked Rui boy like, twice, and his Math Studies lecturer like, once. All we had to do was open the door, shout "Ruishengyoudumborstupid" and close it. Easy as it sounds, it takes an incredible amount of guts and gungho to do it. As for his math lecturer, we sat in class and obediently followed lesson (but she didn't teach anything la) until she noticed two foreign faces about five minutes into lesson.
Friday night, ma and I took the LRT and then the Monorail (which has an awesome view of KL) to Menara Hap Seng for the MIA Ladies' Choir concert. We were there on Yoongwai's invitation, so thank you for calling us up, honey. We badly needed the break. So met longtimenosee Yoongwai and Songyeu. Didn't get to speak to Yoongwai much (which I was looking forward to) because I was stuck with the latter, but I didn't mind k. :) Overall the choirs were not bad lah, but I still support the fact that men are an important part of the choir. :))
Went home, looked up the JPA website. Didn't get the scholarship. Bah. Oh well.
Saturday morn. Sat down and wrapped Rui's mum's multilayered present, just to realise an hour later that I left the price tag on the gift LOL. So I had to unwrap everything. What an ordeal.
Renaissance Choir concert on Saturday night! They were not bad lah, and the songs are good, and every choir I know seem to be a big fan of You'll Never Walk Alone. Must be some Liverpool thingy. Everyone sings it!
The next morning was New Leaders' Appointment, which was unnerving but it was exciting as it was my first All Leaders' Meet. The Rainbow Junior Choir, my grassroots choir, sang the ever famous "Ha-ha yo (My mother)" song. Our GD's speech ain't as dull as everyone dread it would be, so thank goodness.
Went to the doc today because of the terrible, unbearable ulcers on my lower lip. It was all swollen and bleeding today. He looked at me with this knowing smile, because I've visited him more than three times in the past two months. LOL. He gave me this oral aid ointment which "won't burn, unlike Bonjela" but which almost made me pass out in blinding pain when I applied it. He cautioned that it had local anesthetic, a warning which went unheeded resulting in a numb tongue tip. LOL. Awesome.
Attended Chinese discussion meet when I should be studying. Didn't regret it though, because Dr. Boey was there, and I learned so much from him. He's one of the very few people I know which I truly, truly admire and respect. Dr. Boey has this fiery passion and belief in him which makes him ever more convincing when delivering guidances. His story about saving the Japanese girl from committing suicide, thoguh I've heard it half a dozen times before, never fails to move me to tears. The story is like this: he was posted to a hospital in Japan, and this father came up to him telling him about his depressed daughter who wishes to end her life. Not knowing how to counsel him, Dr. Boey wrote a note to her,
"There is one thing higher than the sky, and that is your life. Treasure it."
...which was a verse from Ikeda Sensei's poem to Agnes Chan. I cry whenever I hear that verse. So simple, yet so full of meaning.
I want my boyfriend to be like him. He is the most humble person I've ever met, yet he is one of the head paediatricians in Malaysia, and the most passionate man when it comes to faith. He takes the gosho to heart and applies it to daily life. If I want someone other than Ikeda Sensei to be my mentor, it will be him.
Ok gtg bai. :)

undesirable consequences
we did the staring game thing today in class. hadn't been playing it since high school. renu couldn't last more than 5 secs. :) rui sheng still owned, though.
oooh and we were cheated of our money (at least, we think-lah) by this Indian woman who begged as she supposingly had a sister undergoing bypass surgery and she needed money for food and travel. no one else at the table gave anything. rui gave, like, RM9 and i reluctantly parted with my fiver. once she left, we came under fire almost immediately. LOL. Oh, and thank you for the meal, rui!
bought two packs of condoms for our coming-of-age friend. half of our group ditched us when we went to buy them. LOL. durex, the leading brand, was awfully costly so we settled for the lesser one. the cashier dude looked at the packets, snickered somewhat and remarked slyly, "shooot. hehehe." LOL. we wrote "excessive use may lead to undesirable consequences" on the side of the wrapper. :) anyway, good luck with them rubbers, chua! x) i trust you know how to operate them. if you don't, there's always the instruction sheet inside for first-timers. hahahaha.

Curious, I prompted her to say more. "It's better to leave this world that is so full of evil."
It took me all my willpower not to yell, "that's not true!" because it might be parallel to her religious belief (she said it with so much of conviction). However, I thought it was quite a sad statement as it leaves you with no room for hope or happiness. I mean, no denying there's evil in this world, but must we use death as a path to escape it? Why not fight it while you still have breath left in you? Why the futility of it all?
I don't understand. Maybe many people are unaware of the power they have within them to stop the evil of the world from spreading. Wai Leong said that day, "Those who stand aside and wait for evil to fester is more slanderous than the evil itself." I thought those words resonated a lot of truth.
Anyway, I finally got it out of my system. :) Thankkkyeuuuu. :)

Disney ditsy
Haha, when he started speaking, I recognised the voice immediately, but wasn't sure who it was. What a shock I got when Captain John Smith was actually voiced by Mel Gibson, and Thomas was voiced by Christian Bale. Hahahahahaha.
I'm talking about Pocahontas, by the way. Yesss. I found out that the only two Disney classics I have not watched properly are Mulan and Pocahontas. Will be getting them soon. Meanwhile, here we are!
Had a Disney Princess moment yesterday. Lasted until now, Saturday afternoon. Been watching Disney stuff all the way and comparing princesses as well as princes. I think Prince Philip and John Smith and General Shang have a good shot at the Handsomest Disney Prince title. Shang, in a Cina sort of way. :) Sorry, Prince from Cinderella. Sorry, Eric from the Little Mermaid. Sorry, Aladdin. Sorry, Beast. However, the Beast has a wonderful speaking voice. Like those voices that do the voices of the big boss anatagonist in computer games. Tee hee.
Can't decide who has the better voice, Belle (mezzo soprano!) or Aurora (sixteen year old that sounds like a middle-aged woman) or Pocahontas.
How come Anastasia was not counted as a Disney Princess? And Mulan, too. Or Pocahontas. :(
There is actually TWO sequels to Cinderella! OMGoodness. Go check them out. I've watched all of them. x) The third one is quite entertaining.
There is a sequel to Pocahontas, where she meets a new man! OMG.

Recently, just three days ago, kor found that the lymph nodes in my neck are abnormally enlarged ie. swollen. I never knew they were supposed to be abnormal cos', as far back as I could remember, they've always been there, just not so many as I have now. If I count now, they would amount to roughly about six of 'em rubbery mothballs. Kor never checked my armpits because I'm just too ticklish. -__-
Anyway, I've read up about this. He suspects it's lymphoma, a kind of lymph node cancer that is usually associated with leukemia. O_O The lymph nodes are swollen because of the excess production of lymphocytes (WBC) produced to protect the body against the sudden pathogens (not sure what they are though, cancer cells or virus or what).
Soooo far I have only fulfilled three of the many symptoms--palpable lymph nodes, night sweats, and bodily aches. I'm not sure if sleeping a lot means fatigue, so I'm not counting. If it persists for a week, then maybe I'll go have it checked up, or Kor would pester me to. Ugh. Doctors. Needles. ugh.

GCO Wind Quintet in Concert 09
Here's the story.
Thursday. Rushed to get my emcee script template out (imagine there is no proper template for it, ugh). Stupid printers in the Web didn't want to cooperate. It was much later when I realised I didn't adjust my page to A4 size. Ugh. Then went to Cheras for the rehearsal. Ah Lum tells me that I have to speak after every song. That's 14 songs babe. The reason is because the quintet would've been a little burnt out after 5 minutes of playing and they needed the time to rest and I'm the attention diverter. (divertor? diverter?)
Friday. Panicked my way through breakfast, lunch and dinner. 14 songs! 14 different ways to present! I was on the verge of expiring. Thank goodness Sai Mun was being very understanding. Finally got all 20 cue cards ready. This is the first time my cue cards amount to a sum with two digits. Squabbled with my mom over my outfit for the night. Settled on something simple and existing. Song Yeu informs that there is no make-up artist. *faints*
Saturday. Went to get make-up as my eye liner and mascara were all used up. Then shot off to Cheras again. Rehearsal started at 3pm when it was stated as at 2pm (as usual). Wasn't much of a rehearsal. Rehearsed til 5pm before going to do my own make-up. Ugh. Then chanted til 6.30pm. Gawd. I was so worried about the attendance as the concert was not very publicised. Ugh ugh ugh. And there were some last-minute alterations as my PIC was not contented with my script. Whatever makes you happy.
Saturday evening. 7.30pm. There were only a handful of people standing outside. Started hyperventilating. Song Yeu was late, too, as Chin Choon said there was a massive two hour traffic jam from Jalan Duta all the way to Phoenix Plaza in Cheras. OMG. When the doors were opened at 7.45pm, the audience were scattered all over the hall. It was such a meager sum of people. Sigh. Song Yeu fianlly struts in at 7.50pm. *rolls eyes*
Saturday evening 8.10pm. When half the hall finally fills up, Wai Yip finally nags me into starting the concert. The first few minutes were really unnerving as the audience was soooo damned unresponsive. So many cold spots I tell you. :( I wanted to hide my face somewhere at that time because no one understood my brand of humor. Sigh.
Saturday evening 8.30pm. Audience begins to warm up when I introduce the players one by one. OMG like finally. Couldn't say much about everyone. "The guy with the cool hair and an even cooler instrument, Mr. Kevin Chean" was counteracted with "finally, the guy with the not-so-cool hair but with the coolest instrument, Mr. Yong Song Yeu!". I don't think he was very happy with the assault on the hair subject. x)
Saturday evening 9pm. After intermission, the audience thaws and starts to enjoy themselves, and even being responsive. Good. Ugh. From this point onwards, I sorta ditched my script and improvised all the way to suit the audience's current mood. In the end I cooked up an entirely new script when it comes to acknowledging Elaine's last performance with us before going to Japan.
Luckily there was great reception. Got a lot of congratulating and praises after the concert. Phew. Thank goodness no one complained that there is no Chinese emcee. Met a lot of people I didn't know and they came up to shake hands and offer compliments. Thank u, u guys are sweet. :)
So thank you Elaine, Cheong Lum, Kee Hong, Teng Jun and Song Yeu for believing in me and thrusting me such an opportunity. And thanks rui for being so supportive. Kor also. Ma, pa. Thanks.
Last but not least, thank you Sai Mun!
Pictures, blah, too lazy to upload, but here's the poster. Stole this from Song Yeu's site.
Here's a song our psych lecturer introduced to us. Really cute. I Like Giants by Kimya Dawson.
When I go for a drive I like to pull off to the side
Of the road, turn out the lights, get out and look up at the sky
And I do this to remind me that I'm really, really tiny
In the grand scheme of things and sometimes this terrifies me
But it's only really scary cause it makes me feel serene
In a way I never thought I'd be because I've never been
So grounded, and so humbled, and so one with everything
I am grounded, I am humbled, I am one with everything
Rock and roll is fun but if you ever hear someone
Say you are huge, look at the moon, look at the stars, look at the sun
Look at the ocean and the desert and the mountains and the sky
Say I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye
I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye
When I saw Geneviève I really liked it when she said
What she said about the giant and the lemmings on the cliff
She said 'I like giants
Especially girl giants
Cause all girls feel too big sometimes
Regardless of their size'
When I go for a drive I like to pull off to the side
Of the road and run and jump into the ocean in my clothes
And I'm smaller than a poppyseed inside a great big bowl
And the ocean is a giant that can swallow me whole
So I swim for all salvation and I swim to save my soul
But my soul is just a whisper trapped inside a tornado
So I flip to my back and I float and I sing
I am grounded, I am humbled, I am one with everything
I am grounded, I am humbled, I am one with everything
So I talked to Geneviève and almost cried when she said
That the giant on the cliff wished that she was dead
And the lemmings on the cliff wished that they were dead
So the giant told the lemmings why they ought to live instead
When she thought up all those reasons that they ought to live instead
It made her reconsider all the sad thoughts in her head
So thank you Geneviève, cause you take what is in your head
And you make things that are so beautiful and share them with your friends
We all become important when we realize our goal
Should be to figure out our role within the context of the whole
And yeah, rock and roll is fun, but if you ever hear someone
Say you are huge, look at the moon, look at the stars, look at the sun
Look at the ocean and the desert and the mountains and the sky
Say I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye
I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye
I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye
And I don't wanna make her cry
Cause I like giants.
Cos I like giants. :)
